Artist Statement
My artwork explores inherited memories, cultural identity, and migration through drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and fibers. As a Peruvian artist living in the United States, I reflect on what it means to carry stories across places and generations. I draw inspiration from the oral histories of my family and people I've met along the way, transforming memories that were never written down into visual forms that can be seen and preserved.
I move between mediums because no single material can fully express the complexity of these experiences. Instead, each artwork finds the medium it needs. I let the material guide the process, allowing each piece to develop in its own way. Creating helps me understand where I come from while making space for new narratives to emerge.
Through my work, I hope viewers reflect on the stories they carry, the memories they inherit, and the ways those experiences continue to shape who they are.
